Bengal Congress should accept its weakness- TMC
Emphasizing the party’s dedication to the alliance, a TMC MP said, “We are committed to the India alliance and want to work together to defeat the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). However, we sincerely wish that the Congress The leadership should accept the limitations and weaknesses of its West Bengal unit and let us (TMC) lead the fight in the state.
TMC said on Friday (January 12), “Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will not be able to attend the digital meeting. Because she is busy with her pre-planned programs and she could not change the schedule even after being informed 16 hours in advance.” Will be able to.
TMC offered two seats
He said, “We were told that no one else can participate in it because only one person from each constituent party of the India alliance is allowed to participate in it.” Earlier, TMC cited its earlier stand in the upcoming Lok Sabha. He had refused to send representatives to the meetings with the National Alliance Committee of the Congress on seat sharing for the elections, about which he had informed the Congress.
TMC had offered two seats to Congress in West Bengal based on the results of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. However, Congress considered this proposal inadequate.
Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary’s statement on seat sharing
Last week, TMC MP Sudip Bandopadhyay had indicated the party’s willingness to cooperate with the Congress, but said that if talks failed, the party would contest the elections alone. Recently, State Congress President and party leader in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary said that his party will not beg for seats from TMC. Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary is a vocal critic of TMC.
According to sources, TMC may consider sharing three to four seats with Congress out of the total 42 Lok Sabha seats in the state. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, TMC won 22 seats and Congress won two seats, while BJP won 18 seats in the state. Adhir Ranjan Choudhary had won the Baharampur seat, while former Union Minister Abu H Khan Choudhary had won from Malda South for the third consecutive time.
What proposal did CM Mamata make?
In November last year, CM Mamata Banerjee’s proposal for an alliance between TMC, Congress and Left parties in West Bengal was immediately rejected by the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) and criticized by some Congress leaders.
A few days later, CM Mamata Banerjee had accused both the parties of siding with BJP and said that TMC will take on BJP in West Bengal. TMC had earlier won the assembly elections thrice in 2001 and 2009. Lok Sabha Elections And has formed an alliance with Congress in the 2011 assembly elections.
