Kanpur’s criminal Shivam Singh Chauhan, carrying a reward of Rs 1 lakh, was on the run. Along with Kanpur Police, STF was also searching for him in the murder and famous Babu Singh suicide case of Kanpur. He was living in Bah’s Jarar hiding his identity for more than two weeks. He was arrested on Sunday.
According to STF, Suman Devi, mother of Shivam Singh Chauhan, Makrandpur, Mainpuri, was a district panchayat member from Karhal, Mainpuri in the year 2010. Dr. Priyaranjan Anshu Diwakar was the District Panchayat President of Mainpuri. Shivam and Dr. Got acquainted with Priyaranjan. Both of them became friends. A deal was made to buy the land of Babu Singh, a resident of Chakeri village of Kanpur. The deed of 6 bigha land was finalized for Rs 7 crore and got registered in his name. On this, Priyaranjan took 3 checks from Shivam and gave them to Babu Singh. But payment could not be made through cheque.
On September 9, 2023, the victim Babu Singh committed suicide by being hit by a train on the railway line. A suicide note was also left. In this, Priyaranjan had held Anshu Diwakar, Shivam Singh etc. responsible for his suicide. In the case, Babu Singh’s wife Bitan Devi has filed a complaint against Priyaranjan, Bablu Yadav, Rahul Jain, Madhur Pandey, Jitendra Yadav and Shivam Singh on September 10, 2023 at Chakeri Police Station, Commissionerate Kanpur Nagar for abetment to suicide, intimidation, cheating and criminal conspiracy. Filed a case under section.
2 accused were sent to jail in suicide case
The police arrested the accused Rahul Jain and Madhu Pandey and sent them to jail. Jitendra Yadav got anticipatory bail from the High Court. According to STF, accused Priyaranjan, Bablu and Shivam Singh were absconding. On October 13, 2023, a reward of Rs 1 lakh each was announced on the absconding accused. STF Inspector Anil Kumar Singh, SI Ved Prakash Pandey, Chief Constable Ajay Singh Yadav and other teams were deployed for his arrest.
Mainpuri’s Billu Chauhan is the main accused in the murder case.
Shivam Singh Chauhan is a resident of Karhal, Mainpuri. He has also been the main accused in the Billu Chauhan murder case that took place on January 27, 2015 in Dannahar area of Mainpuri. He went to jail. Came out on bail in the year 2016. Apart from this, there are 6 cases registered against him including rebellion in Kotwali police station of Mainpuri, assault, Arms Act in Dannahar, murder in Kotwali in the year 2018. He was arrested by STF from Bah area on Sunday.
