Nitish government will give Rs 2 lakh to each member of a poor family in Bihar. The number of these families is 94 lakh 33 thousand 312. Their data has been collected during caste based census. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had announced in the Assembly to provide financial assistance to these poor families, after this the Cabinet meeting on 16th January i.e. Tuesday evening. meeting Approved the proposal to provide financial assistance to poor families. All sections of poor families will benefit from this. This amount will be given in three installments. That means, 25 percent amount will be given in the first installment, 50 percent in the second and 25 percent in the third.

An amount of Rs 2 lakh 50 thousand crore will be spent

Actually, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had announced this in the Assembly on 22 November 2023. He had said that in the caste based calculation, about 94 lakh poor families have been found in Bihar including all the classes, an amount of up to Rs 2 lakh will be provided in installments for employment to one member of each of those families. Not only this, the Chief Minister had also said that the limit of Rs 60 thousand being given to 63,850 houseless and landless families for purchasing land has been increased to Rs 1 lakh. Besides, these families will be given Rs 1 lakh 20 thousand to build houses. The 39 lakh families who are living in huts will also be provided permanent houses, for which an amount of Rs 1 lakh 20 thousand per family will be provided. Under the Sustainable Livelihood Scheme, now Rs 2 lakh will be given instead of Rs 1 lakh to help extremely poor families. An amount of approximately Rs 2 lakh 50 thousand crore will be spent in the implementation of these schemes. Since a huge amount of money is required for these works, a target has been set to complete them in 5 years.
