In search of Faizan Bakhtiar, associated with IS and carrying a reward of Rs 25,000, ATS kept running from Prayagraj to various places across the country. On January 17, he was arrested by the police from Aligarh. However, ATS has not yet disclosed from where in Aligarh he was caught.
After the arrest of Pune Modules leader Shahnawaz, it was revealed that he was creating a network of a banned organization by connecting educated youth with IS. The sequence of their arrests continues till today. Now ATS is searching for something else. It started with the arrest of an AMU graduate student from Lohardaga, Jharkhand. After this his companion was caught from Maharajganj. Then Shahnawaz etc. of Pune module were caught. After interrogating him, ATS registered a case on November 3. After this, Abdullah Arsalan, Maj bin Tariq and Wajiuddin were arrested. Investigation has revealed that it was Shahnawaz who got him to join IS by being active in AMU.
The arrested Faizan had direct connections with AMU. He was a student here. Everyone came in contact with IS through the student organization of AMU. The module made inroads into the AMU students’ organisation. AMU students are continuously being arrested. But AMU is still silent on the whole matter. Neither any action is being taken against the students being caught nor any action is being taken against this organization of students active in AMU. Like every time, AMU says the same thing that till now they have not received any written information.
