Road Accident Claim: Road accidents in India are continuously increasing every year. Every day hundreds of people lose their lives and get injured in road accidents. Millions of people die every year
According to the central government, there were 4.6 lakh road accidents in the year 2022, in which 1.68 lakh people died. Lakhs of people were seriously injured, many of whom lost their body parts. Every hour 19 people die in road accidents. Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari has informed that every year road accidents are increasing by 10 to 12 percent.

How is compensation received?
Many of the people who die in road accidents are the only support of their families, after their death the family is left without any source of income. In such a situation the family needs help. After the accident, you can appeal for compensation in the tribunal. If the vehicle that caused the accident is found at fault, compensation can be recovered from the vehicle owner and the insurance company.

If it is a case of hit and run, then in case of someone’s death, his family can get compensation up to Rs 2 lakh. In case of serious injury, compensation up to Rs 50,000 will be given. There is a provision for compensation under the Motor Vehicle Act in case of death or injury in a road accident. A separate Accident Claim Tribunal has been formed for this. It is important to keep in mind that you apply for the claim within 6 months of the accident.
