Why does fog put brakes on fast running trains even in rain, sunshine and extreme heat?


Trains often get late in winter. Many times, many trains are canceled by the Railways to ensure timely delivery of essential trains. Last November itself, Northern Railway had canceled 62 trains as a precautionary measure. There were 46 trains whose journey was reduced. Apart from this, there were some trains which were decided to run less than the prescribed distance. Railways often do this during winter, but have you ever wondered why even so many efforts of the Railways prove unsuccessful in dealing with fog. If not then let us know.

Why do trains not run at the prescribed speed in fog?
The question that often arises in your mind is why trains are not able to run at the prescribed speed due to fog, sometimes even anger. Must be coming. So let us tell you that the train has to move according to the signals present on the side of the track. Due to low visibility during fog, it becomes difficult for the pilot to see this signal. 

In such a situation, to see a red or green light, the pilot has to go very close to it and by doing this he cannot even apply the brakes in time. Due to which a major railway accident can happen at any time. Due to this, in view of the fog during the winter season, the maximum speed limit of the train is reduced significantly and this becomes the reason for the train reaching its destination late.

What can be the solutions
If Railways imposes Absolute Block System on any route i.e. only one train is run at a time between two stations, then that train will be run at maximum speed. Can, because there will be no other train on that track at that time. But in our country trains run between signal to signal. In such a situation, if one train is running late then all the trains behind it also get late.
