If we look at the weather of the last few years, the period of increasing cold is starting after Makar Sankranti. This cold lasts till the first week of February.

If we look at this season itself, the month of December was hot. It started getting cold from the first week of January. Cold wave continues continuously since January 12. Since Makar Sankranti on 15th January, cold was seen in its full swing. The weather has been troubling people for 15 consecutive days. People are facing chill due to the scorching cold. The maximum temperature on Wednesday was 13 degrees Celsius which was 10 degrees below.

The minimum temperature was 4.9 degrees Celsius, which was four degrees below normal. People have been facing cold winds for four-five days. The Meteorological Department has predicted that the weather will remain like this in future too. Meteorologist Atul Kumar Singh said that after January 27, with the impact of western disturbance, there is a possibility of slight improvement in the situation without any significant change.

Relief from sunshine during the day, possibility of fog today

Thursday was a relief for the people who were suffering from cold for many days. After a long time, people felt relieved by the bright sunshine during the day. Elderly people and children hiding at home in the cold were seen sunbathing on the terrace. People were also seen enjoying the sunshine in the park. The Meteorological Department has predicted dense to very dense fog on Friday. The minimum temperature recorded on Thursday was 8.1 degrees Celsius whereas the minimum temperature a day earlier was 4.9 degrees Celsius. The maximum temperature was 16.2 degrees Celsius. Within 24 hours, maximum and minimum temperatures of more than three degrees Celsius were recorded.
