Uttar Pradesh Finance Minister Suresh Khanna presented the 8th budget of the government in the Assembly. In this budget, the government has taken special care of farmers, women and youth. This budget is also being called the biggest budget in the history of UP. Keeping a special focus on farmers in the budget, the government has said to provide direct benefits to about one lakh farmers.

The government has lifted the ban on providing new private tube well connections in the dark zone. Due to which about one lakh farmers will get direct benefits. In the Bundelkhand region, farmers were given the benefit of seasonal tariff and the facility of temporary electricity connection for irrigation of a single Rabi crop. About 37 lakh Kisan Credit Cards were also distributed in the month of October 2023-24. At the same time, 10 lakh farmers had got insurance under the Prime Minister Crop Insurance Scheme. He was paid Rs 831 crore as compensation till October 2023.

Under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, an amount of about Rs 63,000 crore was sent to the accounts of 2 crore 62 lakh farmers by December 2023. This was done through DBT. Small and marginal farmers above 60 years of age in the state, including women, are also included. Such farmers are being given a pension of Rs 3,000 per month.

Sugarcane farmers benefit

Yogi government has also given benefits to sugarcane farmers. The government has paid more than Rs 2 lakh 33 thousand 793 crore sugarcane price to about 46 lakh sugarcane farmers. This sugarcane price payment is more than Rs 20,274 crore compared to Rs 2 lakh 1 thousand 519 crore in the previous 22 years. For the crushing season 2023-2024, the price of early variety of sugarcane has been increased from Rs 350 to Rs 370, that of normal variety from Rs 340 to Rs 360 and the price of unsuitable variety has been increased from Rs 335 to Rs 355 per quintal.
