Arvind Kejriwal will now have to appear before the Enforcement Directorate (ED). Rouse Avenue Court has directed Arvind Kejriwal, who has ignored ED notices five times, to appear before the investigating agency. After ignoring the ED notice five times, the agency had moved the court, hearing which the court directed Kejriwal to appear before the agency on February 17. Just before the Lok Sabha elections, now Arvind Kejriwal will have to answer the agency’s questions in the liquor scam.

As soon as the court’s instructions came out, BJP has said that now all the options for avoiding investigation have been exhausted before Arvind Kejriwal. BJP has also said that the court has ordered them to appear before the ED, accepting the same grounds as true on which the Aam Aadmi Party had been calling the ED investigation politically motivated. This proves that the ED investigation is being conducted on solid grounds.

At the same time, BJP has said that it now hopes that Arvind Kejriwal will now respect the court’s decision and will appear before the ED and face the investigation. Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva, commenting on the instructions given by the Rouse Avenue court on his appearance, said that if even now Arvind Kejriwal does not appear before the ED, it would only mean that he is the mastermind of the liquor scam.

Sachdeva has said that Arvind Kejriwal has been continuously declaring himself innocent. They have been blaming ED for becoming a weapon of BJP. But today the court, accepting the same arguments of ED as correct, has ordered Kejriwal to appear before ED. This shows that the questions being raised by the Aam Aadmi Party on the ED investigation were baseless.
