Nikhil Swami/Bikaner: On hearing the name of Jethalal, the first thing that comes to your mind is Jethalal of Taarak Mehta Ooltah Chashmah, who is famous all over the world for his acting, while there is another Jethalal who is from Bikaner. He is famous all over the world not for his acting but for his taste of Jalebi. Domestic and foreign tourists come every day to eat Jethalal’s Jalebi. Here 50 to 60 kg of Jalebi gets finished in four hours. He makes Jalebi only once in the whole day.
This shop of Jethalal is 100 years old
Jethalal told that Brija Maharaj’s shop in Bada Bazaar of Bikaner is 100 years old. First my great grandfather used to run a shop, after that my grandfather and uncle, now I work in this shop. I have been making Jalebi for seven years. This shop is quite famous by the name of Brija Maharaj ki shop. This special is also sold from Jethalal’s Jalebi. Apart from Delhi and Mumbai, people come from different places of the country to eat Jalebi at this shop.
‘Biranj’ is no less than Prasad, only Janeudhari can make it, it is full of dry fruits and herbs.
This Jalebi is available from 8 am to 12 noon
Jethalal told that it takes about 10 to 15 minutes to make Jalebi. To make Jalebi, flour is soaked overnight. Moth gram flour is added along with it. After this, Jalebi is fried in pure desi ghee. After that it is prepared by dipping it in sugar syrup. This Jalebi is being sold at Rs 300 per kg. He tells that he makes Jalebi from 8 am to 12 noon. The specialty of this Jalebi is that it is made in pure desi ghee.
