When we asked senior advocate of Allahabad High Court, Ravi Ratan Sinha, on this matter, he said that in such cases, a case is registered under Section 323 of the Indian Penal Code. This happens when a person intentionally hurts the other person. In such cases, the accused may have to face imprisonment of one year and a fine of one thousand rupees. Or it could be both.

In this case, UP Police had also registered an FIR against 6 people including Elvish.
