Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena has asked Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to implement Ayushman Bharat health scheme in Delhi. He says that due to its non-implementation, poor patients are facing problems. A large number of lakhs of migrant people live in Delhi. Due to non-implementation of the scheme, they are deprived of the facilities of the scheme. The file regarding this scheme has been withdrawn by applying Rule 19(5) of TOBR.
The LG has asked the Chief Minister to quickly implement the scheme to benefit the poorest of the poor. LG said that in the year 2018 itself, in-principle approval was given for the implementation of Ayushman Bharat scheme. It was also announced in the 2020 budget, but it was stopped due to political reasons. Apart from this, since the year 2018, eligible beneficiaries are waiting for ration card even after applying. In the absence of these documents, patients suffering from serious diseases cannot avail health benefits under other available schemes.
LG also commented on the current condition of Delhi’s hospitals. LG wrote in his note that Satyendar Jain, Manish Sisodia and Saurabh Bhardwaj, who were Health Ministers since 2018, stopped the file of these facilities on about six occasions. Whereas an attempt was made to take credit for this scheme under another name. LG wrote that the recent comments of the High Court and the affidavits of Delhi Government indicate the health condition. These include availability of beds, construction of new hospitals, availability of CT scan machines and other basic diagnostic equipment, irregularities in the functioning of mohalla clinics, among others.
