Let us tell you that the British were never able to enslave the Indian state of Goa. Although it was not independent till that time. The Portuguese had captured Goa and continued to rule Goa for about 450 years. Before and after the British came to India, Goa was ruled by the Portuguese.

When did Goa become independent?
Goa was ruled by the Portuguese for two decades after India’s independence. However, on 19 December 1961, it was liberated and included in India. The Portuguese captured Goa in 1510 and laid the foundation of permanent rule in ancient India. Now the question arises that why the Portuguese could not rule the whole of India. So let us tell you that at that time the Portuguese were not able to rule the whole of India, that was why they ruled only Goa.
