Heavy decline in Japan’s birthrate again, record of last 8 years broken


There has again been a decline in the number of births in Japan. On Tuesday, a report was released by the Government of Japan in which the birth rate for the year 2023 was revealed. According to the report, the birth rate figure has gone down even further. This is the lowest figure so far in the last 8 years. The problems of the Japanese government regarding population have increased further.

Compared to last year, the birthrate figure for the year 2023 has decreased by 5.1% to 7 lakh 58 thousand 631. Along with this, a decline has also been seen in the number of marriages among the people. The number of marriages has decreased by 5.9% to 4 lakh 89 thousand 281. Let us tell you that for the first time in the last 90 years, the number of marriages has fallen below 5 lakh. 

On these rapidly falling figures, the government spokesperson said that the Japanese government will take big and important steps for population growth. The government will work on the care of children. Along with this, the salaries of young workers will also be increased. Japan’s Cabinet Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi said that the issue of decline in birth rate is very serious. If the number of youth does not increase by the year 2030, it will be impossible to change this figure. 

Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said that at present the birth rate is the most serious crisis of our country. At the end of last year, the Prime Minister had announced several major steps for families having children. According to the current data, the National Institute of Population and Social Security Research has estimated that this figure will further decrease by 30% in the year 2070. Then the population of Japan will drop to 87 million.
