Expansion
After two decades, the way for lease deeds of flats between the original allottees and Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (DSIIDC) under various workers housing schemes in Bawana and Narela in northwest Delhi will open. Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena has approved the draft of the uniform lease deed. Under this decision, about 5311 allottees will get the benefit, they have been asked to make allotment within the stipulated time.
Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena has directed the administrative department to take strict action as per rules against the officials causing delay in this matter. Along with giving approval, LG has also expressed displeasure on DSIIDC. He has written in the instructions that the first scheme was started in the year 2003-4. Despite this, the draft of the lease deed is yet to be finalized. Rajiv Gandhi Housing Scheme-1 was started in Bawana in the year 2003-2004 and Rajiv Gandhi Housing Scheme-2 was started in Narela and Bawana in the year 2006-2007.
The Lieutenant Governor expressed concern that in 2019, he was asked to explain the reason for the delay in finalizing the lease deed in relation to workers’ housing schemes, but DSIIDC took almost five years to finalize the lease deed. In 1996, on the instructions of the Supreme Court, the industries were shifted to the industrial areas of Bawana and Narela. In such a situation, DSIIDC had started low-cost housing schemes for the employees.
