From here, he was taken to Khizrabad in a very bad condition, riding on an elephant like a rebel. For some time he was kept in a narrow and dark place. Within a few days, his death order was given.

He called the pundits of Banaras and got the Upanishads of Hindu religion translated into Persian language. It is said that Dara Shikoh had translated Bhagwat Geeta and 52 Upanishads into Hindi-Persian. This Persian translation of the Upanishads reached Europe and there it was translated into Latin language, which made the Upanishads internationally famous. Dara Shikoh is considered a liberal character in India.
