On Friday, people of faith gathered at Shivalayas on the occasion of Mahashivratri. The atmosphere in the Shiva temple complex has become devotional with the echo of Om Namah Shivay. Devotees and devotees are engaged in worshiping Mahadev by filling holy water of Ganga from nearby Simaria Ghat, Jhamatiya Ghat, Chamtha Ghats and performing Jalabhishek on Mahadev.

Since morning, more and more devotees started reaching the Shiva temple premises. Devotees prayed for happiness and peace by performing Jalabhishek and prayers. More than 25 thousand people had performed Jalabhishek by 9 am in Thaneshwar Sthan temple of the city. This number is expected to increase to three to four lakhs by evening. Special decoration of Bhole Baba was done late in the evening at Vidyapati Dham temple. Faithful devotees performed special adornment worship of Ugna Mahadev by offering hemp, datura, belpatra, honey, makhana, flowers, fruits, milk, curd, ghee, butter etc.

On the other hand, under the same roof in Morwa block, just a yard away, at the shrine of Swayambhu Shivling and Muslim devotee Khudni Bibi, like every year, this year too on the occasion of Mahashivratri, more than 1 lakh devotees and devotees performed Jalabhishek on the Swayambhu Shivling. And offered flowers at the tomb of Khudni Bibi. On the other hand, people have been reaching other Shiva temples in the city since morning for Jalabhishek.

Shiv procession will be taken out in the afternoon

In the evening, along with musical instruments, Shiva’s barrage will be taken out from Thaneshwar Sthan temple of the city, in which local artists, dressed as ghosts, vampires, demons etc., will present Shiva Tandav at various places. Tableaus of deities like Narad, Brahma, Vishnu, Hanuman etc. will also be included in the procession.
