The date of notification by the Election Commission came before the end of the turmoil over seat sharing within the National Democratic Alliance for the Lok Sabha elections. In view of this, on Friday the NDA government of the state led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar increased the size of the cabinet. On Friday, 12 ministers of Bharatiya Janata Party and nine ministers of Janata Dal United took oath. With this, the number of ministers in Bihar including the Chief Minister increased to 30.

Along with him were two Deputy Chief Ministers and one minister of BJP. Three JDU ministers were with him. Former Deputy Chief Minister Renu Devi was at the forefront of taking oath as a minister on Friday evening. Neeraj Kumar Bablu, who became minister, shouted Jai Shri Ram after taking oath. With the addition of BJP’s Renu Devi and JDU’s Leshi Singh and Sheela Mandal, the number of women in this cabinet became three. At the time of government formation, no woman had taken oath as a minister.
