  • After being wrapped in the shroud, the dead body is taken for Namaz-e-Janaza, Namaz-e-Janaza is offered in the cemetery or mosque.
  • After Namaz-e-Janaza, the dead body is buried in the grave. In this way the last rites of a Muslim are completed.

How graves are made: There are two types of graves. One is a box grave and the other is a side grave. Box grave is prevalent in India. That means a rectangular pit is dug. Where the ground is strong, a side grave is built there.

Side grave means that space for the dead body is made by digging to the side from the lower surface of the grave pit.

  • What is the length of the grave: Generally, the length of the grave is kept one to two feet more than that of the person who died.
  • What is the width of the grave: Generally the width of the grave is kept at two to five feet.
  • What is the depth of the grave: The depth of most graves is around three to five feet.

Is soil poured directly into the grave after placing the dead body in it: No, after placing the dead body in the grave, soil is not poured directly, but first a plank, or stone slab or bamboo sticks are placed on the upper surface of the grave, and then the common people add soil.
