Congress has got 9 seats in the grand alliance in the Lok Sabha elections of Bihar, which includes Bhagalpur, Patna City, Sasaram, West Champaran, Motihari, Maharajganj, Muzaffarpur, Samastipur, Katihar and Kishanganj. Candidates for Kishanganj and Katihar have been announced today for these seats. According to the information, candidates for other seats including Bhagalpur can also be announced on Monday.

Tariq Anwar has contested elections from Katihar five times consecutively. Tariq Anwar was defeated by JDU candidate in Katihar in the last Lok Sabha elections. JDU candidate Dulalchand Goswami defeated Tariq Anwar by 57,203 votes. Dulalchand Goswami got 5,59,423 votes, while Tariq Anwar got 5,02,220 votes. On the other hand, Kishanganj candidate Mohammad Javed had secured 367017 votes in the last election and defeated his rival JDU candidate Syed Mahmood Ashraf by 34466 votes. JDU candidate Syed Mahmood Ashraf got a total of 332551 votes.
