Raj Kumar-Dilip Kumar Story: Dilip Kumar and Rajkumar were veteran actors of Bollywood. Both had their own style which was quite popular among the audience. The pair worked together in only a few films. The interesting thing is that both of them appeared to be best friends in the films but in real life there was a lot of bitterness between them. Actually, this pair had worked together in the 1959 film ‘Paigam’, but during the same film, there was a dispute between the two and then Rajkumar and Dilip Kumar distanced themselves from each other.
Both of them did not work together for 32 years but then their pair was seen in Subhash Ghai’s blockbuster film ‘Saudagar’ in 1991. However, even on the sets of this film, Rajkumar did such a thing with Dilip Kumar that the actor became very angry. Let us know what happened.
Dilip Kumar was shocked by Rajkumar’s actions
Actor Prashant Narayanan, who was the assistant art director of ‘Saudagar’, recently revealed that the film’s iconic song ‘Imli Ka Boota’ was shot on Rajkumar and Dilip Kumar. Both of them had to play Holi while celebrating their friendship in the song. However, it became very difficult for the crew to shoot this song with both of them. Actually, due to the rift between Rajkumar and Dilip Kumar, there was an atmosphere of tension on the set. Prashant Narayan revealed an incident from the sets of the film, “During the shooting of the song ‘Imli Ka Boota’, Raj Kumar was instructed by four people not to throw gulal directly on Dilip Kumar’s face because he had contact. Were wearing lenses.
Dilip Kumar had also specially said, ‘Don’t throw gulal directly on my face because it can go into my eyes. For the shoot, everyone was ready and then, Subhash ji went and whispered to Raj Kumar to be careful. But when four people tell you the same thing, there will be a problem. Raj Kumar looked around and said, ‘Lights off…’ He went away and lit a cigarette, Raj Kumar continued to smoke while there was complete silence.”
Dilip Kumar was in pain because of Rajkumar
Prashant narrating the further story said, “He had to take a pinch of color and throw it near Dilip Sahab’s face. But Raj Kumar picked up a handful of gulal from the plate in my hand and threw it with full force on Dilip Kumar’s face. He stepped back in shock, it seemed as if he was in pain, Subhash Ghai immediately shouted, ‘Switch off the light!’ Raj Kumar standing there said, ‘Pack up!’ There seemed to be no way for Dilip Sahab to return to the set again.”
There was a dispute between Rajkumar and Dilip Kumar during ‘Paigam’
Let us tell you that Dilip Kumar and Raj Kumar had earlier worked together in Ramanand Sagar’s 1959 film ‘Paigam’, in which they played the role of brothers. However, their relationship turned sour when Raj Kumar slapped Dilip very hard during the shooting of a scene. After that film, the two did not work together for three decades until Ghai brought them together.
