Kolkata Knight Riders had scored 137 runs while playing first, on the other hand, while chasing the target, CSK batsmen kept the wickets in hand on one hand and continued to run the scoreboard on the other hand. Chennai won the match with 14 balls remaining and captain Ruturaj Gaikwad’s unbeaten half-century of 67 runs played an important role in this victory. KKR had registered 3 consecutive wins in IPL 2024, but CSK has become the first team to defeat them in the current season. Whereas Chennai has regained its winning streak after suffering 2 consecutive defeats.

Rachin Ravindra contributed 15 runs and Daryl Mitchell contributed 25 runs in CSK’s victory. CSK had scored 81 runs at the loss of 1 wicket in the first 10 overs, which made it quite easy for them to win because the team needed 57 runs in the last 10 overs and had 9 wickets in hand. Although Mitchell was out in the 13th over, Shivam Dubey, who came to bat as an impact player after that, made the match one-sided by batting in a stormy style like every time. Shivam Dubey hit 1 four and 3 sixes in his explosive innings of 28 runs from 18 balls. Talking about KKR’s bowling, Mitchell Starc was once again thrashed. Apart from Sunil Narine and Vaibhav Arora, no bowler from KKR could take wickets.

Captaincy innings of Ruturaj Gaikwad

After getting the captaincy of Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2024, Ruturaj Gaikwad was struggling a lot in batting. Although he played an inning of 46 runs against Gujarat Titans, he was not able to show anything special with the bat in the remaining 3 innings. Now, taking the responsibility on a slow pitch in the match against Kolkata Knight Riders, he has shown signs of returning to his form by playing an innings of 67 runs in 58 balls. He hit 9 fours in this innings. Apart from them, Ravindra Jadeja and Tushar Deshpande also shone in the victory of Chennai Super Kings. Both of them took 3-3 wickets in bowling.
