To promote weaver craft and handloom, a two-day ‘Dharohar Kashi Ki’ and fashion show is being organized in Kashi on 13 and 14 April. During the event, international designer Manish Malhotra will showcase the weavers’ craft of Banaras in his fashion show at Namo Ghat on 14th April. Bollywood actress Kriti Sanon and actor Ranveer Singh will also do a rampwalk to promote the art of Kashi.
On April 13, during the program organized by the Indian Minority Foundation, ambassadors of 20 countries will participate in darshan and Ganga Aarti at Kashi Vishwanath Dham.
Rajya Sabha MP Satnam Singh Sandhu told the media that the weaving community will participate in large numbers in this mega exhibition. The land of Kashi is home to the weaver community, who have a long history of traditional handloom weaving, including Banarasi silk.
Along with IMF convener and Rajya Sabha MP Satnam Singh Sandhu, MLC and patron of Banarasi textile industry Ashok Dhawan, Weavers Association member Atiq Ansari, Kashi Manufacturers Association member Ghanshyam Das and Vaibhav Kapoor along with others from the weaver community were present.
The Rajya Sabha MP said the program will begin with ambassadors from over 20 countries traveling from New Delhi to Varanasi via Vande Bharat to experience the technology-driven development undertaken under the leadership of PM Modi during the last 10 years . All the ambassadors will visit Kashi Vishwanath Temple on 13th April and will enjoy Kashi Darshan immensely by visiting the world famous ghats through boat. While participating in the Ganga Aarti on the evening of April 13, ambassadors from various countries will also experience PM Modi’s flagship initiative ‘Vikas Bhi, Virasat Bhi’, in which the government is helping in rejuvenating and beautifying India’s rich, age-old heritage.
