DRI team has arrested three gold smugglers. Rs 82.50 lakh cash and 12 gold biscuits have been recovered from them. The DRI team has started investigating the matter.
The arrested accused have been identified as Vidhu Bhushan Roy (58), Dinesh Pareek (45) and Manoj Kumar Sinha (44). Vidhu Bhushan Roy is a resident of Pundibari market of Cooch Behar. Dinesh and Manoj are residents of Kishanganj.
All three caught red handed
It is being told that the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) Siliguri unit had received information that two smugglers from Kishanganj had reached Siliguri in West Bengal for delivery of gold. The raid was conducted on the basis of information. After this, all three smugglers were caught red handed.
Cash found in car trunk
During interrogation, Vidhu Bhushan Roy said that he had reached Siliguri to hand over the gold to two smugglers waiting for delivery. As soon as the smugglers reached Jalpai Mor, both of them were arrested. During the search of the car, the DRI team recovered Rs 82.50 lakh in cash and 12 gold biscuits from the trunk. After this Dinesh Pareek and Manoj Kumar Sinha were arrested. The team is taking further action in the matter. All three are being sent to jail.
