On April 15 afternoon, due to heavy storm and heavy rain, electricity supply in half the city got disrupted in the afternoon. There was darkness on the streets of the city late at night. The city was waterlogged due to half an hour of rain.

According to the forecast of the Meteorological Department, the weather took a turn on the afternoon of 15 April. After two o’clock the sky became cloudy. After which a strong storm came. It started drizzling around 2.30 in the afternoon. It rained heavily for 18 minutes. After 3 pm, it started raining heavily again with strong winds. Which lasted for about 12 minutes. After the rain, the sun increased the humidity. People got some relief from the heat due to strong winds blowing at 6 pm. On April 15, the maximum temperature of the district was recorded at 37 degrees Celsius. At the same time, the minimum temperature was 22 degrees Celsius. The weather department is currently predicting rain.

Waterlogging occurred in many areas

After it rained for about half an hour twice, many areas of the city were waterlogged. There was waterlogging in areas like Ramghat Road, Swarn Jayanti Nagar, Ramesh Bihar, Surendra Nagar, Begambagh, Nagla Tikona, AMU Circle, Kachari Road, Jawahar Bhawan, Station Road, Ghudiabagh, Gular Road, Collectorate, Jaiganj etc. People faced problems in transportation. Due to waterlogging, dirt came out of the drains on the roads. Apart from this, there was waterlogging in the streets and neighborhoods of the city.

Half the city lost electricity

After the rain, power supply broke down in some areas. Before the rain, there was a fault in the 33 KV line of Bonar. Due to which the power supply to Sudamapuri and Ravanatila areas was disrupted. Later a fault occurred in Bhujpura also. Both the faults were rectified before the rains. But after the storm and rain, electricity in half the city went out. Sasni Gate sub station closed at around 2.30 pm. After this, there was a fault in the 33 KV line of Ravantila, Agra Road and Gandhi Park feeder. Due to fault in Ravantila line, power supply to Sudamapuri, Naurangabad, Ramghat and Civil Line areas was disrupted. Apart from this, the conductor of 33 KV line broke in Lakshmibai Marg and Lal Degree. Half the city remained immersed in darkness from noon to night. People’s inverters also failed. Electricity supply to most areas was restored at 10 pm. Efforts were on to restore supplies in Ravanatila.
