In Agra, Uttar Pradesh, on Tuesday, a married woman along with her two-month old daughter was thrown out of the house by her in-laws. To enter the house, the daughter-in-law sat on strike at the gate of her in-laws’ house. Police arrived on information. But mother-in-law did not open the gate. Due to this the police also had to return. A case has been registered in the case under dowry harassment and other sections. The police kept the victim at a relative’s house after 12 hours. The case pertains to Sarai Khwaja of Shahganj police station area.
The married woman is a resident of Shikohabad. She was married to a young man from Shahganj three years ago. He has a two month old daughter. The victim says that the husband is a ration dealer. In-laws are troubling me since marriage. The husband is having an affair with a girl. He wants to bring her into the house. Father-in-law does obscene acts. CCTV cameras installed in the house in response to the protest. She was feeding milk to her child. The CCTV footage of this was made viral by the father-in-law.
Mother-in-law was not ready to open the gate
My husband left me a month ago. Now he is not coming home. This is why she is living in one room. Mother-in-law and father-in-law do not help. She had left home at 8 am on Tuesday morning to collect things. When she came back, she saw that her mother-in-law was standing outside the gate with her daughter. When he arrived, he laid the daughter near the drain. After this the gate of the house was closed from inside. He requested to be taken inside the house. But, mother-in-law was not ready to open the gate.
Case filed against in-laws
Police arrived after calling 112. The police also tried to open the gate. But the women from the in-laws’ side climbed onto the roof. Started making video of the police. On this the police returned. The daughter-in-law staged a protest for 12 hours. ACP Lohamandi Mayank Tiwari said that the victim woman has been taken to her relative’s house. A case has been registered against the in-laws under various sections including dowry harassment, molestation etc.
