According to an NDTV report, an official said that three buses carrying civilians were stopped by “jihadists” on 16 April. They then forced the vehicles and passengers to move towards a forest between Bandigara and Bankas.

“We are trying to secure the release of more than 110 passengers on three buses that were hijacked by jihadists,” an official said, according to an Associated Press report. However, another official, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed the number of those kidnapped. He said that “three buses and more than 120 passengers are still in the possession of jihadists.”

There is an atmosphere of anger among the people regarding this incident. People have also protested accusing the police of failure to handle the situation. However, no official information has been given by the administration in this matter.
