Mythological story of Shivputra Jalandhar (Shivputra Jalandhar Mythological Katha)

According to the legend, once Indra Dev and Guru Brihaspati were going to Mount Kailash to have a darshan of Lord Shiva. That’s why Shivji wanted to test both of them. Shivji changed his disguise and became Avdhoot. Shivji was looking very frightening in this form. Shivji stood in the way of Indra and Brihaspati. Indra and Brihaspati were surprised to see Avadhoot.

Indra was very proud of being Devraj. That’s why he asked Shivji in arrogance and anger, ‘Who are you? Is Mahadev currently residing on Mount Kailash, we have come to meet him. Shivji remained silent even after listening to Indra. In this way Indra got more angry. They felt that Devraj was being insulted by an ordinary Avdhoot. This made Indra very angry. He told Avdhoot that you have insulted me a lot by not saying anything even after I asked repeatedly, for this you will be punished and Indra raised his Vraj to attack Avdhoot.

Here, seeing the blazing flame on the body of Avdhoot and the anger on his face, Brihaspati understood that only Mahadev could have such a fierce form. Indra should not be destroyed by this fierce form and anger of Shivji, so Brihaspati started singing Shivstuti to reduce the anger of Shivji. Not only this, Brihaspati made Indra lie down at the feet of Mahadev, so that Indra’s life could be saved.

But Mahadev was in anger and the flame was still coming out of the brain. Then Jupiter said, O Mahadev! Indra is at your feet. Now you give this flame coming out of your forehead somewhere else and save the life of Indra.

The flame emanating from the third eye of Shivji was so intense that neither the creatures nor the deities could tolerate it. Then Shiva threw this Tej into an ocean. A child was born as soon as Jwala was thrown into the sea. Because of being born from the glory of Lord Shiva, this child was named Shivputra Jalandhar. Jalandhar was named by Lord Brahma.
