R Ashwin on Litton Das: R Ashwin, who won the Indian team a losing game in the Mirpur Test against Bangladesh, has praised two Bangladeshi players on his YouTube channel. He has described Litton Das and Mehdi Hasan as very good people. He told how he was having a conversation with these two players on the third day of the Mirpur Test.
R Ashwin told, ‘These two (Mehidy Hasan and Litton Das) are very good people. On the third day of the Mirpur Test, these people said – Welcome Ash Bhai! We thought you would come today as a night watchman, but why didn’t you come? It doesn’t matter if you come the next day, taking your wicket will be important. I replied- Congratulations to Bangladesh for the historic Test victory. So they said – Hey let it be, we know your team has depth in batting. It will not be easy for us.
R Ashwin said that Mehdi and Litton also told him that it is not easy to chase any target in the fourth innings at Mirpur. On this, Ashwin replied to him that wait till 35 overs and then see how the condition of the ball and the slow pitch help a batsman to play on the front and backfoot.

R Ashwin also disclosed the long conversation he had with Litton Das during this period. Ashwin told, ‘I told Litton Das that I had seen you making your Test debut. I thought that you will become the torchbearer of Bangladesh cricket and take your team far ahead. I also told him that I was a bit disappointed here because I thought you have the same abilities as Virat Kohli, Steve Smith, Kane Williamson and Joe Root. On this, Litton replied that yes Ash Bhai, I accept your point. But our cricket culture is a bit different. We mostly play here, so don’t get much exposure. Then when we play at another place, it takes some time to adjust there.
Ashwin said, ‘Litton Das also told me in the end that he has found a way to become a guide, so I said that if you do well in cricket, I will be the first person to be happy for your progress.’
