Voting for Darbhanga parliamentary seat in the fourth phase of Lok Sabha elections 2024 was completed peacefully. But compared to the last 2019 Lok Sabha elections, this time the voting was 2.29 percent less. In the last Lok Sabha elections, there was 58.35 percent voting. At the same time, this time only 56.6 percent voters exercised their franchise.
After the end of voting in the district, District Election Officer cum DM Rajeev Roshan held a press conference late in the evening at the counting center located in the market committee. He said that with the cooperation of all the personnel engaged in election work, peaceful voting was conducted in Darbhanga Lok Sabha constituency as well as in Hayaghat and Kusheshwarsthan assembly constituencies, a part of Samastipur Lok Sabha constituency. He said that voters were being continuously motivated through various mediums to vote. Its effect was 56.6 percent. He said that Bahadurpur Assembly stood first in the district with 59.93 percent voting. At the same time, Gaudabauram assembly area stood second with 57.97 percent voting, while Benipur 55.08, Alinagar 56.98, Darbhanga Rural 54.98 and Darbhanga Nagar 53.98 percent.
District Election Officer Rajeev Roshan said that after voting, EVMs and VVPATs have been kept safe in the Vajragriha located at the Market Committee. DM said that strict arrangements have been made for the security of EVMs. Three layers of security have been maintained in this regard. Security personnel will be deployed here in three shifts till the counting of votes. At the same time, arrangements have been made for the representatives of the candidates to stay.
Meanwhile, SSP Jagunath Reddy said that the Lok Sabha elections have been conducted peacefully. During this election, a total of 17 people were detained at the police station, who were released in the evening after paying bond. No FIR of any kind related to the elections has been registered in any police station.
