Ebrahim Raisi: Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi’s helicopter met with an accident. The Foreign Minister and many other top officials were traveling in the helicopter with him. Due to dense fog and bad weather, rescue teams are facing a lot of difficulty in reaching them. This incident took place near Jolfa city, about 600 kilometers north-west of Iran’s capital Tehran.

Ibrahim Raisi was born on 14 December 1960 in Mashhad city of north-eastern Iran. There is also a mosque considered most sacred for Shia Muslims in this city. After this, at the age of 15, he started studying in a Shia institute located in Qom city.
It is said about Ibrahim Raisi that he is a follower of fundamentalist ideology. Raisi has also been the patron of Astan-e-Quds, Iran’s richest social institution and the holy shrine of the eighth Shia Imam Ali Reza in the city of Mashhad.
Ibrahim Raisi is close to Ayatollah Ali Khamenei
Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi was the Prosecutor General of Tehran between 1989 and 1994 and then the Deputy Chief of the Judicial Authority for a decade from 2004. After this he remained the Chief of the Iranian Supreme Court. Raisi is considered close to Iran’s fundamentalist leader and the country’s supreme religious leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. He was elected President of the Islamic Republic of Iran in June 2021.
Why are they called particularly fanatics?
It is noteworthy that in the year 1988, Ibrahim Raisi joined those intelligence tribunals which are known as ‘Death Committee’. This committee conducted ‘re-trial’ of those prisoners who were already serving jail sentences due to their political activities. It is said that these prisoners were supporters of the People’s Mujahideen Organization of Iran. These people used to advocate leftism in Iran. These people were given death sentence.
