Due to the scorching heat, there has been an increase in the demand for electricity in Delhi. At around 3:42 pm on May 23, Delhi’s maximum power demand reached 8000 MW. According to the Discom official, the demand is the highest ever in the history of the national capital. This broke the record made a day earlier. Yesterday afternoon the demand reached an all-time high of 7717 MW and a few hours later at 23:01 this record was also broken.
Delhi is currently facing scorching hot winds. Because of this, the demand for electricity has reached its peak in May itself.

AAP targets BJP over power cuts
Atishi said, ‘Delhi is the only state in the country which provides 24-hour electricity to the entire state. For this, on behalf of all the people of Delhi, I thank Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. There have been long power cuts in the states neighboring Delhi where BJP is in government. There is huge power cut in Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad of UP. Today, severe power cuts are taking place in BJP ruled states, but electricity is available 24 hours in Delhi.
He said that ‘electricity consumption increases in July-August, but this time the load has already increased a lot. It is estimated that demand may reach up to 8000 MW in July-August, but Delhi government and power companies are ready to meet this demand.
