In Agra, Uttar Pradesh, teachers of the Agra College Staff Club conducted the examination wearing black bands on the call of AUTA in protest against conducting the examination on OMR sheets.

The semester examinations of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar University under NEP are based on multiple choice questions (MCQs). It is being conducted using the Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) system. On May 12, the AUTA executive had decided to conduct the examinations wearing black bands in protest against the OMR examination.

On Tuesday, on the first day of the university examination, the teachers of Agra College Staff Club conducted the examination by wearing black bands in all the three examination shifts. Secretary Prof. Vijay Kumar Singh said that the university has been conducting examinations on OMR sheets continuously for the last 4 years in the name of session regulation.

Joint Secretary Anand Pratap Singh said that OMR based examination does not allow proper evaluation of students’ knowledge. Treasurer Prof. SS Khirwar and executive member Dr. Ranjit Singh said that only the agency is benefiting from this.

Dr. Surendra Pal Singh said that despite the OMR based examination, neither the session was regular nor the results were correct, hence this system should be abolished. Dr. Bhupendra Chikara, Dr. Anurag Paliwal, Dr. PK Dixit, Dr. Gaurav Kaushik, Prof. KK Singh, Prof. Bhupal Singh etc. were present during the demonstration.
