Heat Stroke : North India is in the grip of intense heat. Temperatures around 45 degrees Celsius or more are burning. The scorching sun and heatwave have worsened the situation. Meanwhile, a frightening news is coming. Doctors have warned not to take heatwave lightly at all, as it can lead to the risk of brain stroke. They say that excessive heat causes dehydration in the body, which increases the risk of blood thickening. Due to which blood circulation can slow down, which can increase the risk of brain stroke in some serious situations.
Dangerous effect on the nervous system
Doctors say that in heat stroke the body temperature rises a lot. It goes up to more than 40 degrees Celsius, which can have a dangerous effect on the brain and nervous system. When the body is unable to keep itself cool, it suffers from severe water loss, which is no less than a danger.
Risk of brain stroke from heat stroke
Dr. Manjari Tripathi, head of the Neurology Department of AIIMS Delhi, has cautioned that one should try to avoid extreme heat as much as possible, because heat stroke can lead to the risk of brain stroke. She said that there is a risk of two types of brain stroke due to heat stroke.
Due to lack of water in the body and less water in the blood, the vessels carrying blood to the brain start leaking. Due to which the blood becomes thick and can clot in the veins. There is a risk of blood loss stroke or bleeding stroke. There are two types of bleeding stroke. One in which blood flows and the other in which blood does not flow.
Which people are more at risk of brain stroke
According to doctors, people who already have diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity, heart disease, breathing problems or who drink alcohol or smoke cigarettes are at a higher risk of getting a brain stroke due to heat stroke. Therefore, such people should be careful. Special care should be taken of the elderly and children.
