A polling officer on election duty in Bhojpur, Bihar died due to heat wave at the booth. The incident took place at Baghi booth of Agiaon assembly constituency. The post-mortem of the dead polling officer’s body was conducted at Sadar Hospital and then handed over to the family. Regarding the incident, the workers working with him said that Sudama Kumar Prasad, son of late Suresh Ram, a resident of Delia village of Chauri police station area, was working as an office assistant in Sahar CHC. He was on duty at Baghi booth under Agiaon assembly constituency for the Lok Sabha 2024 elections. This evening, his health suddenly deteriorated and by the time he was brought to the primary health center, he had died.
He had left home two days ago for election duty
Regarding the incident, the deceased’s brother Lavkush says that brother Sudama Kumar was on election duty. He said that he had left home for election duty two days ago. This evening, the officials informed that your brother is unwell, there is an emergency situation, you should reach quickly. He said that we were about to reach when we got another call on the way that he is no more. After this, the police of Charpokhari police station area got his body post-mortem done in Ara Sadar Hospital. Brother Lavkush said that he probably died due to heat stroke. However, I do not know much because I was not at the scene of the incident.
The doctor said – death was due to heatwave
In this regard, Sadar Hospital doctor Navneet Kumar said that prima facie it appears that the polling officer died due to heat wave.
