According to BBC report, Jason Cooper, a resident of Colorado, is fond of finding fossils. Wherever he goes, he finds something new. Similarly, he rented a house at a place called Morrison Formation. This place is full of sedimentary rocks of Jurassic period. Cooper has about 100 acres of land. In the last 10-12 years, he has found bones of 10 dinosaurs here. But one day suddenly his luck changed. When he made the biggest discovery.

Cooper later took it out and brought it home on a trailer. Investigation revealed that it was a giant stegosaurus i.e. dinosaur. Which was buried under the ground for the last 150 million years. Despite this, it was in a very good condition. Its height is about 11.5 feet and its length from the top of its head to the tip of its scaly tail is 27 feet. He has named it ‘Apex’. Now it is going to be auctioned.
Potential to fetch millions of dollars in auction
Sotheby’s Cassandra Hatton, who is overseeing the auction, said, “No dinosaur has ever been discovered 100% till now. It is unique in this case. It is difficult to find a stegosaurus as good as this. Apex has suffered some damage in a fight with other creatures. It will be auctioned in July. It is expected to fetch millions of dollars in the auction.” Steve Brusatte, professor of paleontology at the University of Edinburgh, said, “Stegosaurus specimens are very rare and if they are real, they should be kept in a museum. It should not be sold.” There is no such restriction in America, where any person can do whatever he wants by digging up a dinosaur on his property and this includes earning a lot of money from it.
