Unique discovery: Frog smaller than a penny and three types of dinosaurs found

The year 2022 is important in many ways. Scientists at London’s Natural History Museum discovered new species of flora and fauna this year that were not known to anyone till now. This includes 84 species of beetles, 34 species of moths, 23 species of moss animals and 13 species of trematode insects.

Special thing, a frog has also been found whose length is up to three inches i.e. only eight millimeters. According to scientists, it is smaller than 1 penny coin (frogs smaller than a penny). They easily hide among the leaves in Mexico. However, they have not yet been able to find out why these frogs are so small. New species of dinosaurs and ancient mammals have also been identified, including the oldest lizard known to science.

According to the report of Daily Mail, Scientists (Natural History Museum London) have achieved this achievement after investigating more than eight crore animals and plants. 85 new species of wasps have been discovered. These also include some small creatures with beautiful wings. Despite their small size, these parasitic wasps can be extremely important to agriculture. It also acts as a biological control agent and eats up the eggs of thrips, an insect that damages crops.

The scientists also cataloged 12 new species of protists, seven species of flies, three species of fish, two bumblebees from Asia, two polychaete worms from the depths of the oceans and a centipede with multiple segments that scientists have never seen before. Meanwhile, 19 new species of stick insects have also been reported.

3 new species of dinosaur
This year, three new species of dinosaurs and ancient mammals were discovered. One of them had smaller forelimbs than a Terex. Despite this, it was able to attack Titanosaurus with its powerful jaws. There are two armored dinosaurs from China. The museum said in a statement that the first of these is the oldest and most complete armored dinosaur found in Asia. The second is the oldest stegosaur ever found. Together, the two species are helping researchers understand how the heavily armored group evolved.

Scary crocodile also found
The new list also includes a fearsome crocodile-like predator, the oldest lizard known to science, originally discovered some five decades ago, during the Triassic period in what is now Tanzania. Scientist told that one of the most interesting fossils found this year is a small beetle trapped in Ukrainian amber, which dates back to 35 million years ago. Let us tell you that according to the research of scientists, about one lakh species from the earth are on the verge of extinction. In such a situation, new research is important. According to Dr. Gavin Broad, Chief Curator of Insects of the Natural History Museum, new species of wasps have been found the most, but this does not happen every year. The abundance of parasitoid wasps makes the Hymenoptera class insects more species-rich.
