IMD Weather Forecast heavy rainfall in west Bengal, Sikkim, predicts heatwave orange alert in Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Bihar


IMD Weather Forecast: The scorching heat has made life miserable for people in most parts of the country including North India. People are waiting for rain. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has issued a warning about heavy rains in the northeastern states. According to the IMD, the condition of intense heat will continue in North India for a few more days. On the other hand, there is no possibility of any change in the maximum temperature in eastern India for the next two days.

Heavy rain expected in Northeast

According to the Meteorological Department, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, West Bengal and Sikkim are likely to receive light to moderate rains along with thunderstorms and lightning during the next seven days. Heavy rains (>204.4 mm) are likely at isolated places in West Bengal and Sikkim on June 15 and 16. A red alert has been issued in these areas regarding this.

According to the IMD, there is a possibility of heavy rains in the northeastern states of Sikkim, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram in the next five days. Heavy rains were recorded at many places in West Bengal and Sikkim on Saturday (15 June).

Heatwave likely in North India

The Meteorological Department informed that heatwave conditions will persist in many states of North India for the next few days. In many parts of West Uttar Pradesh, severe heatwave conditions will persist from 17 to 19 June 2024. Heatwave is likely to occur in different places of Jammu division, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Punjab and Rajasthan on 18 June 2024.

According to the IMD, there will be a severe heatwave in some parts of Bihar, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Jharkhand on June 16, 2024. In the next 4-5 days, the southwest monsoon may knock in some parts of Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, coastal Andhra Pradesh and north-eastern Bengal.
