NEET-UG: The controversy over the NEET UG exam is increasing. Along with the students, many political parties have also come out on the streets. However, the matter is in the Supreme Court. After the matter reached the court, the National Testing Agency had said that the exam will be conducted again for 1563 candidates. For which admit cards have also been issued now. The exam for these candidates will be conducted on June 23.
If we talk about the passed candidates who are included in these 1563, it is not mandatory for them to appear in the examination. If the candidates do not want to appear in the re-examination, then they will have to accept their marks without grace marks. The candidates had demanded that counseling be stopped. Which was refused by the Supreme Court. After the examination on June 23, the results will be released by June 30. While the counseling process can start from July 6.
This year’s NEET exam came under question when the scorecards were released. This time 67 candidates became toppers in the exam. After which this whole matter started. The candidates demanded that the exam be conducted again. For which protests were also held on the streets. Then the matter reached the Supreme Court and the court sought a reply from NTA. NTA is conducting the exam on June 23 for those candidates who had come to take the exam at the center that was surrounded by controversy. 6 students from the same examination center had topped the exam.
The score cards of 1563 candidates who got grace marks have been canceled. After which the number of toppers has also decreased. Earlier 67 candidates had secured top marks. But after this decision the number of toppers came down to 61. It has been said in the Supreme Court that a decision has been taken to cancel the score cards of a total of 1563 candidates of NEET UG 2024, who were given grace marks. These 1563 students have been given the option to appear in the exam again. Candidates who do not appear in the re-examination will be given marks without grace marks.
What are grace marks?
Grace marks are given to pass students who score slightly less than the passing score or as compensation. In smaller classes, grace marks are provided to pass students with a deficiency of 1-2 marks. There are also many petitions in the case which state that the agency has arbitrarily given grace marks to more than 1500 candidates.
