The results of the Gujarat assembly elections are out. This time the Bharatiya Janata Party has created a new record. In Gujarat, which has 182 assembly seats, 156 BJP candidates won the elections. The Congress suffered the most. The Congress came straight down to 17 from 77 seats. Means Congress had to bear the loss of 60 seats. At the same time, this time only five candidates of the Aam Aadmi Party, which claimed to form the government, could win the elections. The SP candidate won one seat, while the remaining three seats were won by independent candidates.
BJP’s Arunsinh Ajitsinh Rana defeated Congress’ Suleman Patel by 13,452 votes in Wagra assembly seat in Bharuch district. BJP candidate got 83,036 votes while Congress got 69,584 votes here. You were at number three. Its candidate Jayendrasingh Laxmansingh Raj got 1,924 votes, which was only 1.2 percent of the total votes. The deposits of seven including the AAP candidate were forfeited. NOTA got 2,421 votes here.
BJP got victory in 2017
This is Arunsingh Rana’s third consecutive victory on Wagra seat. Before 2022, Arunsingh Rana had also won the 2017 assembly elections on a BJP ticket. Rana defeated Suleman Patel of Congress by 2,628 votes. A total of ten candidates were in the fray here. Apart from these two, the deposits of the remaining six candidates were forfeited. Whereas, in 2012, Arun Singh Rana defeated Iqbal Patel of Congress.
Congress won last time in 2012
Before 2012, the Congress had won three consecutive elections on the Vagra seat. Iqbal Patel of Congress won this seat in 2007 and 1998. Whereas, in 2002 Congress candidate Rashida Iqbal Patel had won. In 1990, Iqbal Patel was defeated by BJP’s Khumansingh Vansia.
Congress has won 10 times in Wagra so far
