In the case of Sanjay’s suicide in Rupdhanu village of Barhan police station area of Agra and the allegations of harassment against the Saadabad police, the Superintendent of Police has suspended Sub-Inspector Hariom Agnihotri. He was the one investigating the case. The SP has handed over the investigation of the case to the Additional Superintendent of Police.
A resident of the area had filed a complaint in Saadabad police station on May 25. In this, he had alleged that Laxman and his sister had lured his daughter and taken her away. In this connection, Saadabad police had picked up Sanjay Singh, brother-in-law of Laxman’s sister, from Roopdhanu village of Barhan police station area of Agra district on June 10 for questioning. On June 11, he was challaned for disturbing peace and presented in SDM court, from where he was released on bail.
His body was found hanging from a tree on the morning of 22 June. Sanjay’s brother Pramod alleges that he committed suicide because he was fed up with police harassment. ASP Ashok Kumar and CO City Rampravesh Rai also reached from Hathras after the uproar in the village and the demand of the villagers to call the Hathras police and talked to the family members.
In this case, the investigating officer, Sub-Inspector Hariom Agnihotri has been sent to the line. The investigation of the case has now been handed over to the Additional Superintendent of Police. – Nipun Agarwal, Superintendent of Police, Hathras.
