In Gujarat, it is also called Kamalam because it looks like a lotus. Now the Bihar government has become very serious about the cultivation of dragon fruit. The soil of 21 districts of Bihar has been found to be suitable for dragon fruit. The government is now thinking about expanding its area.

Bihar government will give 40 percent subsidy to farmers for dragon fruit cultivation and will also release the subsidy amount for this. Currently, farmers have to spend Rs 7.5 lakh on one unit built for dragon fruit cultivation. Now the government is preparing to deposit the first installment of 60 percent amount i.e. Rs 1.80 lakh in the accounts of farmers under this scheme. Let us tell you that this amount will be given per farmer per hectare. The second installment of the subsidy amount will be given next year in the form of 20 percent of the total subsidy when the plant is 75 percent alive. Whereas the third and final installment will be given in the form of 20 percent when the plant is 90 percent alive.

The districts selected for the grant amount to be given to increase the production of dragon fruit include Muzaffarpur, Patna, Bhojpur, Begusarai, Aurangabad, Supaul, Siwan, Saran, Bhagalpur, Jehanabad, Gopalganj, Gaya, Katihar, Kishanganj, Munger, Nalanda, West Champaran, East Champaran, Purnia, Samastipur and Vaishali.
