This year the government is providing 50% subsidy to promote banana gardening. Bihar government is promoting banana gardening. 50% subsidy is being given on tissue culture technique.

Banana cultivation is profitable, it gives farmers a profit of Rs 50,000 to Rs 1 lakh per hectare. It increases the income of farmers as other crops can be cultivated along with bananas. Bananas are always in demand in the market, which makes it easier for farmers to sell their produce. Banana stems are also beneficial in banana cultivation.

After plucking bananas, farmers often throw away the stems, but organic fertilizer can be made from the stems, which can also be sold. It costs about 80 thousand rupees to cultivate bananas in one acre. After about three years, the plants start bearing fruits. Due to which farmers start earning good profits.

To apply online for the National Horticulture Development Scheme, farmers have to visit the official website of the Horticulture Department horticulture.bihar.gov.in and click on the online portal for schemes operated under the Directorate of Horticulture. They then have to click on the option of applying for National Horticulture Development Scheme by Protected Cultivation and agree after reading the terms and conditions. The application form will open and farmers have to fill in all the required information and upload the required documents. Clicking on the submit button will submit the application.
