Manipur armed miscreants opened fire at Chinlunthang MLA residence AK 47


Manipur Incident: A shocking incident came to light in Churachandpur district of Manipur. Some unknown armed miscreants fired several rounds at the house of MLA Singhat Chinlunthang located in Zou Veng. After which the police reached the spot and said that during the inspection of the area, some parts of the wall were found damaged. Along with this, the police have recovered five empty shells of AK-47 cartridges during the investigation. At present, the police have registered a case at Churachandpur police station for further investigation.

According to HT report, Churachandpur police said that luckily no one was injured in this incident. At present, the police has started investigating the matter. Let us tell you that Chinlunthang was elected from Singhat assembly constituency under Churachandpur assembly constituency. Where the MLA contested the 2017 Manipur Assembly elections under the Kuki People’s Alliance (KPA).

Such incidents should not happen again- Gram Adhikari

Regarding this incident, the Jenhang Lamka Gram Pradhikaran of Churachandpur district held a press conference on Thursday. In which they said that such incidents should not happen again and such incidents will not be tolerated in future.

Meanwhile, the Indigenous Tribal Leaders Forum (ITLF) issued a statement saying that at around 8:40 pm on Wednesday night, unidentified gunmen armed with weapons entered the house of ITLF secretary Muan Tombing. Along with this, armed miscreants kidnapped Kannan Veng, president of a local Kuki body in Churachandpur district.

Later, the same group of armed miscreants also opened fire near the house of Singhat MLA and the residence of Vaiphei People’s Council president located on Red Cross Road in Churachandpur district, the ITLF claimed.

Appeal to Assam Rifles and Manipur Police to take necessary action- ITLF

Meanwhile, the ITLF organization said that it strongly condemns the actions of armed miscreants who disturbed the peace of the city and created panic and terror among the people. He further said that to prevent such incidents in future, Assam Rifles and Manipur Police should take necessary and precautionary steps.
