UP Assembly By Polls: SP and Congress may contest the by-elections on 10 assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh together. It is being told that talks have already taken place between the two parties regarding this. During this Parliament session, the prominent leaders of both the parties will also put the final seal on this.
According to sources, Congress can also form an alliance with SP in Maharashtra and Haryana assembly elections. Under this, some seats will be left for SP in both the states. Not only this, talks have also started between SP and Congress for the UP assembly by-elections. However, how many seats Congress and SP will contest in the by-elections will be decided only after the talks.
Out of the 10 seats in UP where by-elections are to be held, 9 are seats of MLAs. Lok Sabha Elections These seats have become vacant due to their victory. Out of these, 5 seats were occupied by SP, 3 by BJP and one each by BJP’s ally RLD and Nishad Party.

By-elections are to be held in UP’s Karhal, Milkipur, Katehari, Kundarki, Ghaziabad, Khair Mirapur, Phulpur, Majhwa and Sisamau seats. 9 MLAs have become MPs in Uttar Pradesh and one MLA of Samajwadi Party, Irfan Solanki has lost his membership due to which by-election is to be held in Sisamau assembly seat of Kanpur.
BJP’s tension may increase
In the Lok Sabha elections 2024, SP-Congress contested the elections in alliance in UP. BJP suffered a major setback in this election. The BJP party could not repeat the performance of 2014 and 2019 and NDA won only 36 seats. At the same time, the India alliance won 43 out of 80 seats in the state. In such a situation, if Congress and SP fight together in the UP by-elections, then it can prove to be a matter of tension for the BJP.
