One such scheme is PM Surya Ghar Yojana under which the government provides subsidy for installing solar panels. New meters will have to be installed in homes

Prime Minister Narendra Modi Earlier this year, the government had announced the launch of the PM Surya Ghar Yojana. Under this scheme, solar panels will be installed in every house to reduce electricity bills. The government has set a target of benefiting one crore people under this scheme.

Under this scheme, the government will provide subsidy on installing solar panels. Under this scheme, meters will also be replaced in people’s homes and new meters will be installed. For which people will have to pay a charge. If we talk about the charge for the new meter, it is currently around Rs 2000.

How to avail the benefit of the scheme?

Under this scheme, the government will provide subsidy of Rs 18,000 for 1 kilowatt, Rs 30,000 for 2 kilowatt and Rs 78,000 for installing 3 kilowatt solar panel. To avail the benefits of the scheme, first you have to visit its official portal pmsuryaghar.gov.in. After this, you have to click on Apply For Rooftop Solar on the home page.

Then the registration page will open in front of you. Where you will have to enter your state, district, Electricity Distribution Company / Utility, Consumer Account Number. Then an OTP will come on your number, after entering it you will have to fill the captcha. After this, registration will be done by clicking on submit. After this you will be able to apply by logging in.
