JDU has come on the back foot after the central government rejected its demand for special state status. He is trying to give the message that BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi are being supported at every level but the expected support is not being received in return.

Nitish is giving unconditional support to the central government. At the same time, he is also raising the demand for special status to the state. Nitish is trying to give the message to the people of the state that he is helping the center in every possible way but the central government is not doing so. This message strengthens Nitish Kumar’s image as an honest and development-oriented leader among the public, while bringing the central government under the ambit of accountability. JDU’s success in the Lok Sabha elections has given the party bargaining power. The party is using it to demand special state status. JDU’s demand has also been supported by NDA ally Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas). This has shown political unity on this issue. It is important for Nitish and JDU to present this issue as a broad political agenda and gain public support by linking it to the development and self-respect of the state.

Lalu said-Chief Minister should resign

After the Centre rejected the demand, RJD supremo Lalu Prasad took a dig at CM Nitish Kumar and said that he should resign. Lalu said that it seems that Nitish Kumar has compromised the aspirations of Bihar and the faith of his people for the sake of power.

He had promised to give special state status to Bihar, but now when the Center has refused to do so, he (Nitish) should resign. Let us tell you that JDU has been demanding special state status for Bihar for a long time, but the central government said in Parliament on Monday that there is no case for giving special state status to Bihar.
