In such a situation, people reduce the use of tomatoes, and many people stop eating tomatoes. In today’s recipe, we will share with you a dal recipe in which tomatoes are not used at all. But it has sourness like tomatoes. This recipe is very famous in Hyderabad and here it is also known as Hyderabadi Khatti Dal. Tuar dal is prepared using some special ingredients and tamarind juice is used to bring sourness in it. Let’s know a little more about this recipe and taste it by making it at home amidst the inflation of tomatoes.

How to make Hyderabadi Khatti Dal:

First of all, wash the toor dal thoroughly in water and soak it for 1 hour.
Add soaked lentils, green chillies, ginger, turmeric powder, salt and water in a pressure cooker and cook on medium flame for 3-4 whistles.
When the steam from the cooker is released, mash the lentils well with the help of a ladle and add tamarind pulp to it.
Now boil the lentils again on medium flame.
Heat ghee or oil in a small pan. Add cumin seeds and a few mustard seeds and let them crackle.
After the cumin and mustard seeds crackle, add garlic, dried red chilies, asafoetida, and curry leaves and sauté it for a few seconds.
When this tempering is ready, add it to the dal and mix it well.
Serve the dal with hot rice or roti and enjoy the Hyderabadi sour dal.
