Mohit Rathore (25) who sacrificed his life during an encounter with terrorists in Kupwara of Jammu Kashmir, brought tears to every eye. When the people of Sabhanagar village came to know about Mohit’s sacrifice, everyone reached his house to offer condolences. Father Nathu Singh Rathore says that he is sad to lose his only son, but his son was a brave soldier. He is proud that he went ahead and killed a terrorist. His wife Ruchi is crying bitterly remembering the conversation on the phone two days ago.

Mohit Rathore, a resident of Sabhanagar village, joined the Indian Army in 2017. He was the only brother of three sisters. He got married to Ruchi about two years ago. They have no children. On Thursday, he spoke to his wife on mobile phone. Then Ruchi told him to take leave and come home, but he refused to come home right now.


He had said that he would come in November. Only then would he go to Bareilly to see a boy for his younger sister Pooja. He had found a groom in Bareilly for his sister who was an army man. Mohit’s two elder sisters Rajni and Neetu are married. Neetu’s husband Upendra is also in the army. As soon as the news of his sacrifice reached the village, people were seen discussing memories related to Mohit Rathore’s bravery and reached his house to offer condolences.


Wife’s condition worsened, admitted to private hospital

Late night, Mohit Rathore’s wife Ruchi’s condition deteriorated. She was admitted to a private hospital in Islamnagar. Dataganj MLA Rajiv Kumar Singh also reached the spot. He met the family members and said that the state government’s condolences are with the family. Every possible help will be provided.


BAT attack on military post in Kupwara, soldier martyred, terrorist killed

Security forces have foiled a BAT attack on the Line of Control (LoC) in Machhil sector of Kupwara and killed a Pakistani intruder. Two other terrorists involved in the attack managed to escape to PoK taking advantage of the dense darkness. One soldier also died in the attack. Four soldiers including Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) Captain are reported to be injured. Security forces have cordoned off the area and an intensive search operation is being carried out.
