There is a lot of discussion these days about the relations between India and Maldives. From today (29 July), Maldives Tourism Minister Ibrahim Faisal is going to visit India. Where he is going to do road shows at many places to attract Indian tourists.
The Maldives government has prepared a “Welcome India” campaign, in which it will entice more and more Indian tourists to visit Maldives. The Maldives Tourism Minister is going to hold road shows in Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore.
Maldives Tourism Minister Ibrahim Faisal will hold a road show in New Delhi on July 30, in Mumbai on August 1 and in Bengaluru on August 3. Ibrahim Faisal has come to India from Maldives to strengthen tourism relations between India and Maldives.
The number of tourists from India visiting Maldives has decreased by 42 percent compared to last year. Indian tourists like Maldives a lot, but due to tension between the two countries, the number of tourists had decreased.
If media reports are to be believed, the current government is being considered the reason for the tension between India and Maldives. Ever since Mohammad Muizzu became the President of Maldives, the relations between India and Maldives have remained tense. Because Muizzu is considered a supporter of China and in his election campaign he also gave the slogan of “India Out”.
As soon as he came to power, Muizzu raised the issue of withdrawal of Indian soldiers several times. India has 88 soldiers in Maldives, who are now being called back.
When PM Modi visited Lakshadweep, some ministers of the Maldives government made indecent comments on his pictures, after which the dispute between the two countries kept on increasing. However, those ministers were suspended. After this, Muizzu went on a tour to China and after returning, he kept speaking harshly against India.
Now Maldives Tourism Minister Ibrahim Faisal is doing a road show in India. It would also be interesting to know how much Indian tourists are influenced by this road show and visit Maldives.
